How to Keep your Stone Looking New

The choice of which stone to use on which surface is in no small part influenced by the ease of maintenance, and the durability of the surface when exposed to heat, UV radiation, scratches, and household spills like lemon juice, wine, or tumeric. Maintenance doesn’t necessarily mean high maintenance, as long as you know what you’re doing and you know your stone well enough. You need to know exactly how to scrub and sanitize without compromising or damaging the elegant finish.

Here is your complete guide to maintaining your Caesarstone quartz, Dekton, and Sensa granite:

  • Caesarstone

For everyday, routine cleaning, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth and warm soapy water, a mild detergent, or a quality spray to maintain its luster. Thoroughly dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. For consistent shine, wipe countertops in a broad circular motion.

Spilled oil, vinegar, soy sauce, curry, turmeric powder, red wine, food coloring, makeup, ink, permanent markers, and metal marks from keys are not an issue either. Add a cleanser with oxalic acid to a non-abrasive sponge and wipe gently. Remember to rinse and wipe dry.

Caesarstone surfaces are extremely strong and durable, but they are not indestructible. Don’t use abrasive sponges on your surfaces, and avoid using harsh chemicals or sharp objects directly on your surface.  If you’re looking to use environmentally-safe cleaners you can use a combination of 50/50 vinegar and water.

  • Dekton

Dekton requires very little maintenance. Simply wipe your Dekton surface by using a non-abrasive sponge with soap and warm water on a regular basis to maintain its beauty and shine for years to come. In addition, any pH-balanced general-purpose cleaner may be used. (e.g. dish soap).

To remove dicult spills, wipe the surface with soap and scrub with a Scotch Brite pad, then rinse with warm water. For stains that harden as they dry, such as food, gum, nail polish, and paint, remove by gently scraping o of surface (using a blade or putty knife /putty remover), and then clean using warm water and soap.

Avoid exposing your Dekton surface to strong chemicals and solvents for an extended period of time. Although it is stain-proof to many household cleaners, it is never advised to leave these cleaners on your surface for an extended period of time.

  • Sensa

Sensa stones are virtually maintenance-free; they are easy to clean and the treatment has a 15-year transferable warranty. For regular cleaning, wipe with soap and warm water or a mild household cleanser. Wipe up spills as soon as possible and dry the surface quickly. Always avoid using bleach and abrasive cleaners. Do not use polishes or waxes. Do not use highly acidic cleaners as they may damage the surface layer.
